So yesterday morning my wife and I get up scrambling to get to this 3d and 4d ultrasound appointment that we had. Now keep in mind we already have 3 girls…(yesss I said 3 and one on the way).
We were running a little behind because the office moved and they didn’t give us any heads up that they changed locations…no big deal,just about a 5-10min. delay.
In front of the office is a tiny little sign that we could barely see,which made us pass the office the first time…
So after a couple of phone calls,we finally made it…
Out of breath with 3 little girls excited about seeing their baby sister in this 3d and 4d ultrasound.
We get to the office and my wife has to fork over $180 bucks to a physician that is rude because we’re late…and then stated that others have had problems finding the new place as well…(HELLO…PROBLEM)?
Ok…so we get calm and go back into the room to see baby Rhaine and she’s being difficult,I mean…arms in the face,turning in the opposite direction of the ultrasound,just not being co-operative AT ALL!
We ended up leaving about 10 mins. because the baby wasn’t performing today…
The physician advised that we would be able to come back for another 3d and 4d ultrasound.
But my question is do we want to??? Is it worth it?
So I began to do some research and found out that there is no benefit to this type of service other than the fact that you’ll be able to get a glimpse into your babies future…
which some people are excited about seeing their babies features in a different light and with profound clarity,causing them to be keepsake ultrasounds.
What about the risks of these 3d ultra sounds?
Ok,so the potential risks really depend on the duration of the ultrasound session,you’ve got to understand that the baby is being subjected to these ultrasound waves…
Doctors at this point don’t know the long term effect,so of course these session have to be curtailed to 30 mins or less and scheduled for once a month.

The FDA warned in 2004,“ultrasound is a form of energy,and even at low levels,laboratory studies have shown it can produce physical effect in tissue,such as jarring vibrations and a rise in temperature.
…and they caution against 3d ultra sounds…
These are just some things to think about before just running out and performing these 3d and 4d ultrasound. Do your research and see if this is the right thing for you.
